Cell Phone Number Search – How to Reverse Lookup a Cell Phone Number
When do you need a reverse phone service?
If you want to find the name and location of the owner of a specific phone number (cellular or landline) and this number is not listed in whitepages or phone books, you will need a specialized reverse phone lookup service. These services operate by purchasing access to subscriber databases of various mobile operators and phone companies. By combining multiple sources of information, they provide users with a capability to search through a huge database containing almost all phone numbers in the USA. This database includes land line numbers, unlisted numbers and cell phone numbers.
Reverse phone lookup services are bound by agreements with phone companies, which prohibit them from providing this information for free (primarily for the reasons of privacy). This is the reason why you need a valid credit card or paypal account to register and use these services. This ensures that they cannot be utilized for illegal purposes (e.g. stalking.) Besides, phone companies charge for access to their databases in the first place, so reverse lookup services try to recoup some of their costs by requiring a subscription fee.
Are there any free alternatives to paid reverse phone lookup services?
If you don’t feel like using paid services, there are a few alternatives that may help. You may look up the number in publicly available whitepages or phone books, or use an internet search engine, such as Google or Yahoo. However, if the number in question is cell phone or unlisted, you search will most likely provide no results, because such information is not publicly available. It won’t hurt to try, though.
What kind of information you can expect to find using a cell phone lookup service?
You can expect to find the owner’s name and address. Some services also provide additional information such as the list of household members.
How to use a reverse phone lookup service?
Simply enter the phone number which you are researching into the online form. Most services will immediately provide the following information for free:
Whether the phone number in question is cellular or land line.
The precise location (city and state) where the number is registered.
Whether any additional information about this number is available.
To find the name of the phone’s owner, you will need to purchase access to the service (a nominal yearly fee is usually required). As mentioned above, the registration requirement is a way of ensuring the service will not be used illegally.
Are reverse phone lookup services legal?
Yes, cell phone lookup services are completely legal, provided you use the obtained information for lawful purposes. In particular, you are not allowed to take advantage of this information for making telemarketing calls.

How to Use Your Cell Phone as a Modem for Your PC
Using AT&T’s Phone-as-Modem Service. AT&T charges a month ( for supporting use of a standard cell as a modem, and for providing unlimited Media Net access). For BlackBerry, Palm, and Windows Mobile phones, AT&T’s phone-as-modem packages (which include Media Net access) range from to a month more, depending on whether you have a voice plan with AT&T; the cost is lower if you do. To use AT&T’s service, first download the company’s free Communication Manager software. Install the application on your phone , and connect the phone to your PC via USB.
2. Connecting Over the Sprint Network. Sprint’s Unlimited Phone as Modem plan costs a month; and its Flexible Phone as Modem plan, a month. The flex option lets you transfer up to 40MB of data monthly. If you exceed that limit, you pay .001 for each additional kilobyte to a maximum fee of . You must sign a two-year service contract to use a Sprint phone as a modem. To get started on this service, first download the free Sprint PCS Connection Manager software and install it on your PC–but don’t open the program yet. Instead, connect your phone to your computer, and then launch the Connection Manager app. Click the Go button, and you’re done.
3. T-Mobile’s Phone-as-Modem Plan.Internet access via the T-Mobile service costs a month, excluding voice calls. If you use a BlackBerry with the service, monthly plans range from to . T-Mobile doesn’t officially support using its phones as a modem, but some of the company’s handsets–including the Dash and the Wing–work as modems, and using them in this way doesn’t violate your service agreement. I used the Wing in my tests. Here’s how to set it up: 1. Plug the phone into the PC’s USB port. 2. If Windows automatically finds a driver for the handset, skip to step 3. If it doesn’t find a driver, download ActiveSync and install the app on your computer. Step through the setup wizard, and then restart your machine. 3. On the Windows Mobile device, go to Start, Programs, Accessories. 4. Click the Internet Sharing icon. 5. In the PC Connection dropdown, select USB. 6. In the Network Connection drop-down menu, select T-Mobile WModem Link. 7. Click Connect at the lower-left side of the screen.
4.
Modemize Your Verizon Wireless Phone If you have a PDA phone, Verizon’s BroadbandAccess Connect costs a month; the service costs a month if you use a standard cell phone . First, install the VZAccess Manager software on your phone; it should already be on the handset, but if it isn’t, you can download the app. Most standard cell phones also need the Mobile Office Kit (), which includes a USB cable and PC software. Next, install and open VZAccess Manager on your computer. Step through the wizard, then click Next, Detect WWAN device only (as shown in the screen image below), and finally click Next twice more. Select Data Cable (For tethered handsets and PDAs/Advanced Devices), and Next again. Choose the ‘Detect WWAN device only…’ option in Verizon’s VZAccess Manager software to link your PC with your cell phone in order to gain Internet access through your phone. Now physically connect your cell phone to your PC, using a USB cable. When the app identifies your phone (showing your handset’s manufacturer and model name in a pop-up window), click Yes and then Next. Your cell phone number will appear on the next screen. If it’s correct, click Next and Finish to exit the setup routine. VZAccess Manager launches automatically. Highlight NationalAccess – Broadband Access, and click Connect. In the following screen, click Continue. Then browse away.
5. Connecting via Bluetooth – You can do without the cables if you go the Bluetooth route, though setup is a hassle. To proceed, you’ll need a Bluetooth phone and a Bluetooth-enabled laptop or desktop PC. I used a notebook running Windows Vista and a very common phone–the Razr V3–over AT&T’s network. (Some of the settings identified below will vary depending on the particular handset and carrier.) Here are the steps: 1. On your cell phone, go to Menu, Settings, Connections, Bluetooth. 2. Select Setup, highlight Power, click Change, and set it to On. 3. On your Vista PC, click Start (Start, Run in XP), type bthprops.cpl, and press Enter. 4. Under the Devices tab, click Add. 5. Check My device is set up and ready to be found, and click Next. 6. Return to your cell phone, and highlight Find Me. 7. On the PC, highlight your phone’s name and click Next. 8. Select Choose a passkey for me, and click Next. 9. Enter the passkey on the handset. 10. After Windows exchanges passkeys and pairs with your Bluetooth phone, click Finish. 11. On the PC, right-click Computer (My Computer in XP), and choose Manage. 12. Select Device Manager, click the + sign next to Modems, right-click your phone modem, and select Properties. 13. Under the Advanced tab, type AT+CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”isp.cingular” if you’re a new AT&T customer, or AT+CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”proxy” if you’re an existing user. Click OK. 14. In Vista, click Start, Connect to, and select Set up a connection or network. 15. Choose set up a dial-up connection, and click Next. 16. Select your phone modem, and in the ‘Dial-up phone number’ field, type *99#. (If you get an error when you try to connect, enter *99***1# instead.) 17. In the Username field, type ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM (using all-capital letters). 18. In the Password field, type CINGULAR1 (using all-capital letters). 19. Select Remember this password, and in the ‘Connection name’ field, type GPRS. Click Connect and then Close.
6. Modem-Software Love When Your Carrier Leaves You Cold. If your carrier’s phone-as-modem service does not support your Palm or Windows Mobile phone, don’t despair. (For example, AT&T’s Communication Manager software doesn’t support phones that run the Palm OS.) June Fabrics Technology’s PDANet software may be able to help. The program, which is free to try and costs to own, lets you use your Palm or Windows Mobile phone as a modem on any Windows machine via USB, Bluetooth, or an infrared connection. (If you use a Mac, PDANet will run only through a Bluetooth connection.) I used USB to tether my Vista-based laptop to a Samsung BlackJack with AT&T’s service. Download and install the PDANet program on your PC. If it isn’t already on your system, download and install ActiveSync. Step through the setup wizard, clicking Next at each screen. Now connect your phone via USB. The PDANet driver will install on your phone automatically. Click OK. In your PC’s system tray, click the PDANet icon and select Connect.
7. Some carrier-supplied apps don’t support the use of older BlackBerry models, such as the 8700g, as a modem for PCs. That’s where MobiShark’s Shark Modem software comes in. The program costs , but a free trial is available. According to MobiShark, the software works on all 7000 and 8000 series BlackBerrys. Before you can use it, you must download and install the BlackBerry Desktop Software (registration is required) on your PC. Then, after loading the Shark Modem program on your phone, open the BlackBerry Desktop app on your PC, double-click the Application Loader icon, and click Next. Next, connect your BlackBerry to your computer’s USB port. The BlackBerry software on the PC will automatically assign the connection (for example, ‘USB-PIN: 30191B7D’) and display it in the Connection field. Click Next, select the SharkModem checkbox to add the program, click Next, and then click Finish. After the app loads, click Close. Select the SharkModem icon on the BlackBerry. In the pop-up window, click Yes. In the ‘Connect to Internet via’ field, choose Direct TCP connect. Under ‘Connect to PC via’, select USB.

Cell phones, MP3 players to get 32GB capacity
Samsung Electronics Co. announced today that it is shipping a 32GB NAND memory card, the highest-density embedded memory card to date and one that offers twice the capacity of previous cards.
Samsung’s 32GB moviNAND card is the first embedded memory card to use 32Gbit chips based on 30-nanometer lithography technology. Current moviNAND cards use 16Gbit chips based on 40nm-class technology.
Each 32GB moviNAND device incorporates eight Samsung 30nm-class 32Gb NAND chips, a multimedia card (MMC) controller and firmware. Samsung’s 30nm moviNAND card is also available in 16GB, 8GB and 4GB capacities.
Due to an explosion in the amount of personal data stored on mobile devices, the use of higher-capacity memory cards is expected to grow exponentially in the next four years. Research firm iSupply Corp. expects an eight-fold growth in 32GB and larger memory cards by 2013.
About 120 million 16Gbit NAND-based cards have shipped to data, about 13% of global memory card shipments. By 2013, 950 million cards are expected to have shipped, making up 72% of the total world shipments, according to iSupply.
The new cards are aimed at high-end phones, music players and other mobile consumer electronics. Samsung said the higher-capacity cards offer better performance for processing and storing large amounts of multimedia content such as videos, video games and TV broadcasts.
Samsung’s proprietary moviNAND chip uses a high-speed interface jointly developed by JEDEC and MMCA (MultiMediaCard Association) and the eMMCv4.3 specification that includes a power-on feature that reduces boot-up time and a sleep command to cut power consumption.
According to Samsung, consumers can expect to see mobile devices with the 32GB cards later this year.

It is always cheaper to buy directly in stores in India in any city (Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad) rather than to buy online when you can spare time. Prices can vary from store to store and offers can change from festival days (Dussera, Diwali, Sankranti, Pongal, Ugadi, New Year, Christmal, etc.) to non-festival days. You will also be able to get a hands on experience before buying the product if that is new for you.
I have been noticing that some electronic or consumer electronic stores are selling these goods at same price as market price (other electronic stores) but place a higher MRP tag and an offer price tag showing a discount. It helps to check several stores to get a good idea of current prices in the market before deciding to buy. It applies to online shopping as well.

How to use a cell phone abroad
Preparing to Use Your Cell Phone While Traveling.
Your cell phone may be able to be used when you travel abroad. Since cell phones have become a part of our daily lives, leaving the cell phone at home when traveling may not be an option.
With roaming agreements between cell phone service providers, quad-band phones and cell phone network access nearly everywhere, your cell phone can be used nearly everywhere you travel.
An important thing to consider when using a cell phone abroad is cost. Although costs per minute are generally higher when using your cell phone outside your home country, there are ways to ensure that your cell phone bill stays relatively reasonable when traveling.
Ensure that your cell phone is a quad-band cell phone. There are four primary cell phone service signals used in the world, and a quad-band phone will work on each of them. Many cell phone makers produce quad-band phones and any cell phone service provider that offers international cell phone service access will sell at least one quad-band phone.
If are preparing to purchase a cell phone, ask the service provider which phone models are quad-band or if buying online, look at the cell phone specifications to see if the phone is dual-band, tri-band, or quad-band.
Place your SIM card into a quad-band phone. If your current phone is not able to function in the country you will be in, ask friends and family who use the same cell phone provider if you can swap cell phones for the travel period by placing your SIM card in their cell phone to take with you. They would take your cell phone and place their SIM card in it to use it while you are gone.
This ensures that when someone attempts to call you on your number, they will reach you and not the other person. The SIM card holds the user account information and the cell phone number connected to your account.
You may also be able to purchase or rent an inexpensive quad-band phone to use with your SIM card. Most phones are locked to one service provider, so you may need to locate a quad-band phone from your service provider.
Countries such as Japan and South Korea, according to an article on CNN.com, use 3G networks (that differ from GSM and other 3G networks) and many cell phones from other countries will not function there.
Check to see whether your cell phone service provider has roaming agreements in the countries to which you will be traveling. Companies such as AT&T and T-Mobile have
extensive roaming agreements. According to CNN, T-Mobile has more than 190 countries where roaming agreements are established.
Roaming agreements mean that customers of the cell phone service provider from another country have the ability to access the networks and cell towers in other areas that are owned by other cell phone service providers there.
Check the rates. It isn’t surprising to learn that using your cell phone abroad will cost a bit more than using your cell phone at home. After all, there are roaming fees (your cell phone company pays for access to other networks), connection fees and taxes to cover.
Plans with “anytime minutes” or free nights and weekends will often exclude those free minutes when using your phone abroad. Instead, you will be charged a per-minute fee based on the country you are in or the network you are accessing.
These fees generally apply to both incoming and outgoing phone calls made while your phone is in another country.
Use text messaging when possible. Overall, text messaging rates internationally cost less than the cost of a per-minute phone call. Text messaging can be an effective way to communicate with others in your travel group if you get separated and check in with those back home.
Check to see who is calling before you answer. You don’t have to shut your phone off when traveling, but don’t answer every single call unless it is crucial. Keep calls brief, and keep in mind that most cell phone plans will round up to the next minute. A one-minute and 3-second call will be billed as a 2 minute call.
Also keep in mind that checking your voicemail may count as a per-minute charge when using the phone abroad.
If you find that your cell phone or service provider plan won’t function in the country where you are going, you can usually purchase an inexpensive prepaid phone upon arrival. These can be good for emergencies or quick phone calls back home, and depending on use, may be more cost effective than calling cards.
Check before traveling to see whether your cell phone service provider offers service where you are traveling and also whether your cell phone will function there. Ask about rates and fees before leaving.
Do not use your data or Internet browsing plans on your cell phone while traveling. Data plan fees when traveling can be extremely expensive.
If you are using your cell phone or SIM card abroad and your cell phone service provider has roaming agreements set up where you are traveling, you usually do not have to dial the international country code. Simply selecting the person you want to call in your phonebook and selecting ‘Call’ generally works.
However if you are using a rental phone, pay phone, or phone other than your SIM card with cell phone you may need to dial the international country code before the rest of the number.

Tips to avoid high bills when using your cell phone abroad
Using your cell phone while traveling abroad can be convenient but costly. Before you travel, you should check to see if your phone will work abroad and if it does what the rates are. The rates are always higher when using your cell phone abroad, often higher then roaming charges and fees.
Before you travel, contact your cell phone service provider to determine two things. One, you’ll want to make sure that your phone itself is a quad band phone. Quad band phones can operate anywhere in the world. Cell phone service providers operate on one of 4 bands, so a quad band phone is ideal to have if you travel often.
Secondly, you’ll want to ask if the cell phone service is available where you are traveling. Large cell phone providers often have agreements with other providers all over the world to allow their customers to use their cell phones on shared cell towers. Some companies only operate in one country or have little to no agreements or contracts with cell phone towers internationally.
If you’ve determined that your cell phone will function where you are traveling you’ll want to check the rates and fees. Some service providers may charge roaming fees, access fees, and more. If you are using your cell phone on a shared cell tower or network you might be charged fees by the other service provider in addition to your own provider.
Almost always the per minute fee applies to any calls made while abroad, if you have a family plan or shared minutes, these are generally not used on international calls. You may pay up to a few dollars a minute depending on your provider, what towers are being used, and where you use your cell phone.
Also keep in mind that rates may change depending on the day of the week or time. This time and day pricing may be set in your home time or in the local time, so check with your provider before leaving.
Text messaging if available is generally the best way to communicate with people back home on your cell phone. Text messages are usually under 50 cents a message to send and receive internationally. So you can save a good deal of money by communicating via text message.
As for data use such as accessing the internet on your cell phone, these rates can be extremely high so you’ll want to reconsider before checking your favorite website or e-mail on your cell phone while traveling.
You can avoid high bills on your cell phone while traveling by minimizing the length of time you talk on the phone. Most providers round up to the next minute, so if your phone call is at 1 minute and 1 second, you’ll get charged for 2 minutes, so use up closer to 2 minutes before hanging up. If you can keep your calls at 59 seconds or less, you can avoid being charged for more minutes.
Keep your phone off when not in use to avoid incoming calls that you may accidently pick up, only to realize you may now be facing a higher cell phone bill. If at all possible as mentioned earlier, use text messaging if available as it can be cheaper and more effective when using your cell phone abroad.

Motorola Krave ZN4 Cell Phone Product Review
I recently acquired a Motorola Krave ZN4 for free with my cell phone contract through Verizon. The following is a review of the Motorola Krave ZN4 in an effort to help a consumer with Verizon in their selection of a new cell phone.
Previously with Alltel, I became a part of Verizon upon the company’s acquisition of Alltel. I was thinking about switching providers upon the conclusion of my contract, but Verizon not only let me keep my former Alltel rate plan, but they offered my a free cell phone with a renewal through their company. I chose the Motorola Krave ZN4 as my new cell phone.
Motorola Krave Reviews
The reviews on the Verizon Wireless website1 were mostly negative for this cell phone. However, my sister-in-law has one and is very happy with it.
Specifications
The Motorola Krave has a touch screen. The clear outer cover flips open for access. This clear cover is also interactive, with a lock and unlock button on the side of the phone. When holding the phone in normal position, you can use the virtual dial pad to make phone calls or send text messages. You can also turn the phone sideways to activate a virtual QWERTY keyboard.
The Motorola Krave supports Bluetooth, has a 2.0 megapixel camera with video and zoom. Additional features can be viewed at the Verizon Wireless website1. With a Verizon Wireless plan, you can get paid subscription services such as V CAST Mobile TV, VZ Navigator, Visual Voicemail and V CAST Music.
Motorola Krave ZN4 – Using the Cell Phone
This cell phone weighs in at about 4 and a half ounces and is a little bulky.
Virtual Dial Pad and Keyboard. The virtual dial pad and virtual QWERTY keyboard are a little difficult to use at times, and sometimes the wrong letter or number shows up when pushed. Texting is not very quick with this phone. I hope to get faster with more use.
Making Calls. The phone is a little difficult to get used to when making a call that you have to press numbers during the call. The touch screen automatically locks and goes dark during the call. However, I have a pattern that works well for me when making this sort of call.
If the screen is dark, touch it to make it light back up. You will see a red bar across the screen that says “drag to unlock”. If you slide your finger across this red bar, the screen will unlock and you can press the appropriate number on the dial pad. It is a little extra work each time you have to press a number, but not hard to adjust to.
The earpiece works well for clear sound when talking. The microphone works well, too, as my husband says our calls are much clearer since getting this phone.
Changing Menus. The touch screen is a little difficult to use on the Motorola Krave, as it’s easy to touch the wrong menu selection on this touch screen. This can become frustrating if you are in a hurry.
Taking Pictures. Pictures are easy to take. Once you take a picture, there are options such as sending the picture to another cell phone or email address. I have found, though, that the pictures are a little darker when transferred to a computer than they appear on the screen of the Motorola Krave.
Interactive Clear Flip Cover. I usually open the flip cover to use the phone. However, if I receive a call and don’t recognize the number, I can slide the unlock button on the side of the phone to access the interactive flip cover without opening it. This allows me to press “ignore call” to stop the ringer. Another slide of the button and my screen is locked again.
Other Features. There are many other features on this phone that I will probably never use. I can download games and real music ringtones, which I intend to do in the future.
Incoming Calls. Often, I do not receive an incoming call, but I’m not sure if this is a problem with the cell phone or Verizon Wireless.
Motorola Krave ZN4 Accessories
There is a large variety of cases and covers available for this cell phone. Ebay has a large selection of snap on hard and rubber covers that allow you to use the phone while the cover is in place. I found many that I like for under .00 that included free shipping. When I’m ready, I’m thinking about getting a purple rubber snap on cover for my phone.
Many other websites offer covers for this phone for under .00. Perform a Google search to see what’s available.
There is also a special stylus for purchase made especially for cell phones like the Motorola Krave. You can get these on Ebay as well, often for under .00. This might make it easier when using the virtual keyboard and dial pad. I will have to try this out at a later date.
Overall Rating of the Motorola Krave
Retailing at 9.99, this cell phone is much more phone than I need. If I had to pay for a new cell phone, I’m not sure the Motorola Krave would be the one. The extra steps needed when making calls that require me to press a certain number and the difficulty of using the virtual keyboard and dial pad are frustrating at times. I prefer a cell phone with actual buttons to push. It is a good quality phone when having a conversation.
I would give the Motorola Krave a rating of 3.5 out of 5.
