The Dension ice>Link Plus brings complete integration of the Apple iPod with your factory fitted BMW radio. Simply connect the ice>Link Plus to the CD changer socket of your radio and start enjoying crisp, clean digital music. Imagine having access to over 10,000 MP3s at the touch of a button!

The operation is simple: ice>Link Plus translates CD changer messages to iPod controls and switches the iPod automatically on and off as you select/deselect the CD changer source. The iPod is controlled from the head unit‘s CD changer keys and steering wheel controls (where available) and your iPod is charged while connected.

Forget the need for poor quality cassette adapters, illegal FM Transmitters and trailing cigarette lighter cables. The Dension ice>Link Plus is available for a huge range of OEM Factory Fitted and Aftermarket radios.

Select from Dension’s range of iPod applications such as Active Cradle or Dock Cable for a perfect integration. All applications support both Dension user interface mode and original iPod user interface mode and now ice>Link Plus now features video output for great integration with rear seat entertainment systems.

Simple interface…
The ice>Link Menu is the main feature of the ice>Link user interface allowing you to easily navigate through the different play modes such as scan, repeat and shuffle. The ice>Link Plus gives your iPod two modes of operation.

iPod Direct Access Mode – The iPod will play/pause when you enter/exit CD changer mode on your radio. In addition, the iPod responds to FF/RW from your head unit keys and steering wheel controls (where available)

iPod Playlist Mode – Your iPod maps the first five playlists stored on the iPod to CDs 1-5 on your head unit keys. Although the iPod keypad is disabled in this mode, the iPod display (and CD Text/dashboard displays in some applications) will show ID3 data of the currently playing song. Advanced content features including Random, Repeat, Scan and AlbumPlay are also available, even on radios that don’t have these features. Pressing CD6 accesses the ice>Link Plus menu that lets you browse all of the playlists on your iPod using your head unit FF/RW keys. The menu also provides configuration options for advanced features of the ice>Link Plus.

(N.B. the original 1G/2G iPods that don’t have the bottom-mounted dock connector do not support Ice Link Plus playlist mode or the menu)

If you have a newer iPod, you may be interested in purchasing a 30 GB video iPod accessory to go with it. Accessorizing your iPod is a sure way of making your device even more stylish and or functional than ever before. The types of accessories range in both type and function, but together they will serve to make the iPod experience that much better. Here are some of the things available to make your cool little gadget even cooler than before.

iPod Auto Accessory

In this day and age, people love to be able to control the music they hear when they are on the go. Until just recently, you used to have to have an expensive CD player and a multitude of CDs with you in order to listen to whatever you want, whenever you want. However, now you can find a great iPod car accessory or an iPod Nano car accessory to allow you to listen to your portable gadget while you drive. If you get an iPod FM transmitter and accessory, you can hook your iPod up to a device that will allow you to transmit a signal detectable by your car’s antennae to listen to your iPod on the go.

This device is not only highly functional, but it will also impress anyone who travels with you. Another great third generation iPod accessory is a tape adapter. These are tapes that you put into your car’s tape player and they will play the signal that it receives from a connected iPod. Finally, you should also consider getting a car charger for your iPod. This is a good way to ensure that you will not lose out on your music on a long drive.

Cheap iPod Accessory

If you’re on a tight budget, it can be difficult to get the accessories you want at a low price. However, an educated consumer knows that you can always find a discount iPod accessory, with a little bit of research. First, you should check a local iPod accessory store to see if they have an accessory kit for iPod devices. These bundles generally include multiple accessories and an iPod accessory case to store it all in. Best of all, they are usually much cheaper than buying each individual accessory alone. If you need an iPod Apple Nano accessory, you may be able to find a cheap iPod Nano accessory online. If you have a video iPod, you should look into getting an iPod photo accessory. This will make good use of your iPod’s great functionality. Finally, you should always find iPod accessory gear cases. When dealing with equipment that is as expensive as accessories for iPods, you should not risk the potential for damage.

Accessories for your iPod are something you should not ignore. While some may cost a lot, in the long run, your purchase will more than justify itself. Be a trendsetter and get yourself some iPod accessories.

Buying Ipod is just like buying a piece of enjoy-ment. The first criteria is to buy something you will enjoy. And full enjoyment of your new iPod means considering your music, your lifestyle and, of course, your budget.
• iPod Shuffle
• iPod Nano
• which iPod is Right for you?
should purchase a traditional Ipod. Available in 30gb and 60gb sizes, the Ipod will hold 15,000 or 30,000 songs respectively. If you don’t have enough songs to fill your iPod why not download some videos instead? Ipods now all support video, so you can download your favorite television show or music video and take it with you on the road. The battery on the Ipod will last up to 20 hours before giving out making it a great music and video player for long trips.iPod Shuffle
The Ipod shuffle is perfect for people who don’t want to carry around their entire music collection with then, but want something light and easy for working out and going out on the two. The ipod shuffle is about the size of a pack of gum, and comes with a lanyard so you can wear it around your neck and go hands free. The shuffle comes in two sizes 512mb and 1g, the 512mb ipods shuffle will hold 120 songs and the 1gb model will hold around 240.iPod Nano
If you want to keep it small, but also want to see your play list then an iPod Nano may be the right ipod for you. iPod Nanos are slightly larger in size than the shuffle but have their own color display where you can easily navigate through songs and play lists as well as view your pictures. Ipod nanos come in 1gb, 2 GB and 4gb sizes. The 1gb model will hold the same as a 1gb shuffle (240 songs) the 4gb version however will hold close to 1000. A new feature of the Nano is their integration with Nike. You can now use you Nano like a pedometer and track your workout as well as listen to some great tunes while you run. Which iPod is Right for You?
iPod fever catches a new wave of consumers every day. Coupled with the unrelenting success of Apple’s music download program iTunes, the iPod has become an unstoppable force in the world of mp3 and portable audio players.
Since its introduction into the world, other companies have risen to the challenge of besting the iPod, but have thus far been unable to attain the recognizable status and fame that surrounds the iPod like a magical aura, capturing the interest of all who fall within the mystical glow.
Apple now offers three different versions of its iPod, which has come quite a long way since its original 5GB model.

A lot of people are encountering various problems with their iPod devices. iPod restore issues, blue, black or white screens, erase, connect and transfer problems, iPod won’t turn off (!), iPod falls into water, videos are not showing properly, audio is corrupted during playback and a lot more. The thing is that many of these issues can be resolved by following a basic troubleshooting routine every time you face a minor or major problem with your iPod.

- First of all, you got to make sure your iPod is turned on! A lot of people get so enthusiastic with their iPods forgetting the fact that the iPod is still an electronic device that uses batteries. And batteries must be fully charged. No batteries, no electricity, no iPod. So make sure your batteries are properly and fully charged before turning on your iPod.

- Restore your iPod. You will find all the information you need to restore your iPod at the apple website. Always restore your iPod using the latest updated software. Keep in mind that restoring your iPod means that you will lose all songs and other files and all settings will be restored to their original value.

- If you can’t connect your iPod with your computer via a USB or FireWire port, try a different port. It may not be your iPod’s fault but the USB’s or FireWire’s port fault instead. Try restarting your computer if the problem persists. A lot of compatibility issues have been reported, especially with the Windows XP operating system. A simple system restart might be the solution to your iPod connection problems.

- Another common mistake is the Hold switch mistake. If you forget the Hold switch in the locked position your iPod screen will show a lock image telling you that you have to turn the Hold switch off before turning on your iPod. A lot of new iPod users tend to forget the Hold switch on, thus believing that there’s something wrong with their iPod when they try to turn on the device.

- Try resetting your iPod. This usually solves a lot of issues. To reset your iPod connect it to the iPod AC Adapter and plug the adapter into an electrical outlet. Alternatively, connect your iPod to your computer’s built in FireWire port. Turn on the Hold switch and turn it off again. Finally press the Play/Pause button and hold it until the iPod logo appears.

- Keep updating your iPod’s firmware. Firmwares keep updating all the time. Be sure you always have the latest firmware for your iPod. You can download the latest firmware for free at the apple website. Also try to reinstall your iTunes software. Always have the latest iTunes version installed. You can download the latest iTunes version for free at the apple website.

It’s not always the iPod’s fault if something goes wrong. Use common thinking troubleshooting techniques before throwing your iPod in the garbage.

The technology behind iPod downloads is interesting. If you are an iPod user, it is not new to you that you simply cannot download those stored song files in your iPod to your computer. In short, iTunes only allow a one-way transfer of files, from the computer via iTunes to your iPod device but not vice versa. People have questioned the rational behind this somewhat inconvenient shortfall in the design of these portable digital devices. We will find out in this article how we can work around this inconvenience and also explore other cost-effective ways to download tons of songs and music videos for pennies.

No, it is not because there is a design flaw but rather the design intention to ward off attempts of piracy, ie indiscriminate duplication of music files to be sold or shared. It may sound harsh to say that even sharing song files with friends could be illegal, but it is true that you may be in danger of infringing into copyright laws. The copyright laws are put in place to govern and protect the intellectual properties of their creators, the musicians, etc so that it remains profitable for them to run their music business. Without that, the music industry slowly wanes and dies a natural death. As a consumer, or music lover, you obviously won’t want that to happen right?

However, not being able to download iPod songs from iPod to computer meant that we cannot do a backup of our song collection. This can be a nasty experience if our computer crashes or when our iPods are faulty. There is a need for easy transfer of song files between the iPod device and any computer such that retrieval would not be so painful. The “piracy-proof” functionality of the iPod device to prevent transfers of songs to a computer ended up becoming a handicap for owners who genuinely just want to do proper backups.

Software developers saw this shortfall coming and have already designed some applications to work around this problem. iPod users can now conveniently carry out transfers from their iPods to their computers with ease, without fear of formatting problems. Here’s a list of iPod-compatible software applications supported by Mac/Windows Operating System that are available for downloading. Free trials are available for testing.

1.	iPod Music Liberator

2.	iPodRip

3.	PodUtil

4.	iPod Access

With the above software, you can rest at ease, knowing that your private iPod downloads of song and music collection is safe even when your iPod or computer is down. I am sure you have heard of horrific stories where folks who have painstakingly built up a huge iPod music collection only to see them wiped out with a technical glitch. It’s not a matter of effort only but the amount of money that has been invested into the iPod downloads.

Fortunately, there is now a better way to download iPod songs, music and music videos. In the past year, other than iTunes, many new players have entered into the market changing the business model of paid iPod downloads. Instead of charging per iPod download of song or music video, these membership sites are offering life-time membership for pennies. Considering the vast library of millions of iPod downloads they offer which range from the latest music to movies and TV shows, it is proving to be a more worthwhile investment for iPod users. Learn more about how you can access to unlimited iPod downloads of music and other media files at my iPod blog.

iPod is a brand of portable media players that is designed and marketed by Apple and was launched on October 23, 2001. Since October 2004, iPod sales have dominated the market for digital music players in the United States.
Devices in the iPod range are primarily digital music players, designed around a central click wheel although the iPod shuffle has buttons only.
The full-sized model stores media on an internal hard drive, while the smaller iPod nano and iPod shuffle use flash memory. Like many digital audio players, iPods can also serve as external data storage devices.
In addition to playing music, iPods with display screens can display calendars, contact information, and text files, and play a limited range of video games. Models introduced in 2004 include the ability to display photos and the fifth-generation iPod, introduced in 2005, can additionally play video files. In January 2007, Apple announced the iPhone, combining the features of a video-capable iPod with integrated mobile phone and mobile internet capabilities.
Apples iTunes software is used for transferring music (as well as photos, videos, games, contacts and calendars, for models that support those features). As a free jukebox application, iTunes stores a comprehensive library of music on the users computer and can play, burn, and rip music from a CD. It can also sync photos and videos.
History and Design:
The iPod came from Apple digital hub strategy, as the company began creating software for the growing market of digital devices being purchased by consumers. While digital cameras, camcorders and organizers had well-established mainstream markets, the company found digital music players lacking in user interface design and decided to develop its own.
The name was proposed by Vinnie Chieco, a freelance copywriter, who (with others) was called by Apple to figure out how to introduce the new player to the public. As soon as Chieco saw a prototype for the player he thought of the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey and the phrase: “Open the pod bay door, Hal!”, which refers to the white EVA Pods of the Discovery One spaceship. At that time “iPod” was a name that Apple registered for Internet kiosks, but never put to use.
Apple hardware engineering chief Jon Rubinstein assembled a team of engineers to design it, including Tony Fadell, Stan Ng and Jonathan Ive. Additionally, Sparkfactor Design has designed some of the iPod hardware from 2002-2004. They developed the product in less than a year and it was unveiled on October 23, 2001. CEO Steve Jobs announced it as a Mac-compatible product with a 5 GB hard drive that put “1000 songs in your pocket.”
Uncharacteristically, Apple did not develop the iPods software entirely in-house. Instead, Apple began with PortalPlayer reference platform which was based on 2 ARM cores. The platform used rudimentary software running on a commercial microkernel embedded operating system. PortalPlayer had previously been working on an IBM-branded MP3 player with Bluetooth headphones. Apple contracted another company, Pixo, to help design and implement the user interface, under the direct supervision of Steve Jobs.
Once established, Apple continued to refine the software look and feel. Starting with the iPod mini, the Chicago font (once used on early Macintosh computers) was replaced with Espy Sans, which was originally used in eWorld and Copland. Later iPods switched fonts again to Podium Sans, a font similar to Apple corporate font Myriad. The iPods with color displays then adopted some Mac OS X themes like Aqua progress bars, as well as brushed metal in the lock interface.
User interface:
Apple focused its development on the iPod’s unique user interface and its ease of use, rather than on technical capability. The iPod is currently the world’s best-selling range of digital audio players and its worldwide mainstream adoption makes it one of the most popular consumer brands. Some of Apple’s design choices and proprietary actions have, however, led to criticism and legal battles.
The iPods with color displays use high quality anti-aliased graphics and text, with sliding animations. These iPods have five buttons and the newer generations have the buttons integrated into the click wheel an innovation which gives an uncluttered, minimalistic interface.
The buttons are:
Menu to traverse backwards through the menus, and toggle the backlight on older iPods when held
Center to select a menu item
Play / Pause which doubles as an off switch when held
Fast Forward (When held)/ Skip Forward
Fast Reverse (When held)/ Skip Backwards
The operations such as scrolling through menu items and controlling the volume are performed by using the click wheel in a rotational manner. These iPods also have a Hold switch at the top, which prevents accidental button presses.
Newer iPods automatically pause playback when the headphones are unplugged from the headphone jack, but playback does not resume when the headphones are re-inserted.
However, in newer iPods (excluding iPod shuffles), when the headphones are re-inserted into the headphone jack when the iPod is asleep, the iPod will automatically wake up to the last screen viewed before going to sleep. An iPod that has crashed or frozen can be reset by switching ‘Hold’ on then off, then holding Menu and Center (Menu and Play on the 3G iPod) for 6 seconds.
The iPod shuffle does not use a click wheel and instead has five buttons positioned differently to the larger models. It has a Play / Pause button in the center, surrounded by four buttons: Volume Up / Down and Skip Forward / Backwards. This button arrangement is shared by the Apple Remote (which ships with all Apple computers with Front Row and the Universal Dock).

iPod video downloads have been popularized since iPod fitted their new generation gadgets with capabilities to play video. The older iPods are phasing out as they make way to the latest models that play iPod video downloads. More iPod users now own an iPod Video that plays not only music but movies and videos as well. While the small LCD screen pales in comparison to the huge TV screens we are used to, it is still the perfect companion for us when we are on the move in a train or bus, or while working out on the thread mill in the gym.

Nowadays, our iPods are equipped with 30 GB to 80 GB of disk capacity. This can hold up to 100 hours of video. So unless you are traveling around the world for 4 full days without eating, sleeping and going for washroom breaks, it is definitely sufficient to entertain you for hours with quality MPEG 4 iPod video downloads. However, one thing you need to be mindful of is its battery life. It probably would last long enough for you to finish one or two one-hour TV show episode before it needs recharging.

Folks are always on the look-out for a good place to access iPod video downloads. iTunes is an excellent place to download iPod music videos. On top of that, you can also find loads of iPod TV show downloads, iPod video downloads, iPod movie downloads and iPod music downloads. Try searching for latest TV shows like 24 Hours, CSI and download them to your iPod. You may purchase the entire season or just one episode you missed for $1.99.

If you are looking for interesting and entertaining iPod video downloads, you may be able to find them at Google Video, YouTube, iFilm, Metacafe, etc. Some of these videos are home-made videos made by amateurs. You will even find music videos uploaded by idol hopefuls. But you really would not know if they will become the stars of tomorrow.

Recently, there are membership sites that have sprung up that allow you unlimited iPod video downloads. You would be able to find the latest TV shows like Prison Break, Lost, Desperate Housewives and movies like Pirates of the Carribean and Saw 3 at these download sites. While it is not free to download videos at these websites, it is much cheaper to download iPod video as they charge one-time fees for lifetime access. It seems clear that there are no limits to when and how many videos you can download for your iPod. These sites already have millions of diehard users.

iPod video downloads are one of the most popular media files people download next to music downloads. iPods used to be very basic in function and can only play music. With the improvements in iPod technology, we are able to view movies and videos on our new iPods. The generous disk space on our new generation iPods allows us to store up to 50 movies, each about 2 hours long. It is so convenient to watch a good video on iPod without carrying bulky DVDs or players. Here are some quick tips for iPod users who intend to download iPod videos.

There are many places where you can find iPod video downloads. The most established is iTunes and it is definitely not a stranger to you. iTunes now have more than 200 TV shows and you can download each episode of your favorite video at $1.99.

Peer-to-peer P2P file sharing networks are alternative places where you can download free iPod video and movies. Basically, you will need a P2P client application to search for iPod video downloads at the various networks. Some software are free and can be easily downloaded at online freeware resources or through the search engines. Two popular freeware used by many users to download iPod video downloads are MP3 Rocket and Fast Torrent. On top of that, they can be used to download games, music MP3s, etc.

There are some individual websites that offer iPod video downloads for private viewing. Most of them are amateurs who are experimenting with video filming and there have been some interesting finds reported at these websites. In fact, from time to time, you may have received them via email from your friends.

You may have gotten your iPod video downloads from sources other than iTunes, and P2P networks such as home made videos. But when you try to play them on your iPod, you realize that you cannot. Do not panic. The likelihood is that your video file format is not compatible with your iPod. iPod can only read MPEG4 and H.264 video files so this means that you need to convert the files first.

While there are many paid versions, you would be pleasantly surprised to find freeware that are just as powerful in converting video files to iPod compatible format. Free iPod Video Converter V1.32 and Utralshareware do a pretty neat job in converting popular video formats so that you can enjoy DVD/VCD and AVI, MPEG, WMV, RM, DivX, ASF and VOB video files using your iPod.

Visit my blog to find out more about iPod video downloads and where you may access to endless new DVD quality iPod video downloads.
