Apple is not going to allow user-made SDK applications to run in the background. This means every application, from IM to VoIP to GPS mapping, will have to terminate entirely when the user switches out to take a call or change a song!

The guys over at ZIPHONE, are saying do not upgrade is you have a cracked iPhone. They are working on a new version of ziphone as I type this.
The once impossible is not impossible. You can use the iPhone on ANY cell network with a hack that was confirmed just minutes ago by engadget.
Everything works except for youtube, and visual voice mail, as they are AT&T network specific.

Apple admits to battery problems, and had released a guide on how to make the iPhone battery last longer. It's actually kind of funny how it is written.

Curtis Rissi (http://boringgeek.com) just told me about a company called ColorWare PC that will paint your iPhone, or you can buy a pre painted phone from them. They have an online tool that allows you to pick the custom colors and see what it looks like before you buy. It's fun to play with.

Being a new device, there is bound to be some minor bugs in the software. Just because its and Apple product doesn't meant that its perfect.
AppleHound.com has released a list of reproducible bugs on the iPhone OS. I have verified a few of these myself. Try it out, it can be fun. I'm sure Apple is working hard to patch most of these problems for the next OS update.
